Talk to them.
/I had a friend that had an old rotary telephone that looked like it belonged in someone's Grandma's house. In fact, she had it so she could talk to her Grandma.
It wasn't plugged in, there was no dial tone. But in moments when she was feeling sad or lonely or in need of sage advice, she'd pick it up and talk into it like she was talking to someone on the other line.
I find myself more and more encouraging people to talk to people who've passed on. Just the other day, another friend of mine was sharing about an interview she heard with late poet, Mary Oliver. My friend commented that she'd love to have a conversation with her about her experiences, and I reflexively said, "Well, why don't you?"
Have you ever had a conversation with the dead? I wrote previously about my long-standing relationship with John Lennon. It has been rich as any other relationship I've had.
