Think and You Shall Receive
/I was in my first yoga class at All Ya'll Yoga. Elizabeth told us to go into tree posture with the option to do half lotus with our bent leg. At that moment, I started to wonder what was the anatomical difference between these two similar postures.
"I need to get a copy of that Yoga Anatomy book."
Back in the early 'teens, when I first began a formal study of yoga, I had a kindle version of this book but as with most kindle references, I never read it. I've since learned that for me to read a book I need a physical copy, one I can dog-ear, scrawl in the margins, and carry around with me like a nerd.
Figuring I'd put this on my online shopping list, I tucked that request away and continued on with my breath and movement practice.
After class, I was saying good-bye to Elizabeth when I saw the Yoga Anatomy book on a shelf behind her.
"Oh! Are these books for sale?!"
She told me that was the studio library but they did have books for sale on the shelf behind me.
"I see, I figured these were for sale since there are two copies of Yoga Anatomy up there. I was just thinking in class that I need to find a copy of that book."
She turned around and to her surprise there were indeed two copies. One worn and notated with the hand of a seasoned yogi, the other one practically new.
"I didn't realize we had two copies ... You can totally have one."
It was the only book that was duplicated on the shelf. This immediate request fulfillment wasn't going to be lost on me.
Sure, maybe it's coincidence, but I choose to see things like this as more than that. Having a thought and then it coming into reality shortly after is nothing short of magic for me. It feels like the world is providing me with what I need, which for me, is an antidote for worry.
When was the last time you had a thought and were surprised by how quickly it come into being for you? What did that experience teach you?
