Now|Here :: The Imperfection SHOW
/Has imperfection ever held you back from something that you've wanted to do?
Let's be honest, it's usually not imperfection itself that holds us back, it's the fear of imperfection that keeps us from hitting send, making the call, getting up on stage.
Well, after debuting in my reclaimed path as a performer a few months ago I knew the next step was creating another show.
Feeling within myself the fear of showing up once again imperfect and unpolished (I mean, you don't come out of the womb a functional adult, do you?), I played a trick on my ego to unsure that I moved forward with my second show.
So in this show I explored imperfection ... quite imperfectly, if I do say so myself (with pride!).
Though I'm creating these shows out of my love for performing and sharing, I'm doing it for another reason too.
I've seen so many of my friends and clients hold themselves back from doing the thing that their heart yearns for because "they're not ready," "it isn't time," and probably at the bottom of all of it, "they don't feel good enough."
Well, my hope was that for this show, someone out there will see me doing the thing and realize, they can do it too, whatever that thing is for them.
This week I was blessed to hear a story from one of my audience members on how this plan worked!
My family friend, Kathy, watched the show with her niece, Annie. A few days later, Annie was preparing to open her online store and was a nervous wreck. Kathy asked Annie why she felt this way after all the preparation she'd done.
"Could this be a result of the theme of Nyssa's show, 'the fear of imperfection'"?
Something then clicked for Annie as she was able to see how much that could be true.
Having seen my show she was reminded that WE ALL FEEL THIS WAY and it doesn't need to be anything to be afraid of. Recognizing this helped her have a stellar first day with her store, Tanria Elementals, being able to create space for the joy of all her hard work. If you've been looking for ritual and altar materials from a local, small business, check out her store.
But first, watch my show below.
If you enjoyed this show and want to help me keep making these, Iām accepting tips of any amount via Venmo (@nyssa-hanger). Thank you!
Now I want to know, what has the fear of imperfection held you back from? What is one small step you can take to move through this fear and DO THE THING? Tell me in the comments below.
Extra credit: Get yourself something from Tanria Elementals and create a sacred ritual to help you take this next step.
My next show will be on June 26th. Stay tuned for details!
