How to Thrive (... brought to you by Orchids!)

A few years ago I became determined to learn how to grow orchids ... more specifically, keep them alive beyond enjoying the blooms they had when they were bought.

It started with a gift from a client after my dog of 14 years passed away. That orchid inspired a few other clients to gift me with some and then I bought some for myself and had a nice orchid collection at the office for a while. They really seemed to like the early morning sun that came in the big front windows.

Last Summer, I got gifted a few more by caring friends after my father passed away. I also started buying them for myself in the months following. Honestly, orchids became a coping strategy. I would gaze at their different flowers, meditatively water them once a week, be amazed as I'd see new inflorescences emerge after being dormant for so long.

But, now, I feel like I've found the ultimate spot in this house. In the upstairs office, with the east-facing window, these orchid blooms have lasted 6 months! I got the two when I began my mentorship in Aromatic Shamanism with Aromagnosis last February. When I came downstairs last Friday, after our final meeting, I saw my mom had gifted me with this new white orchid.

When I look at these orchids I see symbols of both the journey I've had and also the journey up ahead. I've spent a year+ going deep within and in some ways finding myself again.

These orchids also remind me of how much shining light on ourselves can help us to grow, maybe even beyond what we think is possible.

That in the right conditions, we can thrive.

For quite some time now, I've been focused on the question of, “What conditions do I need to thrive?” I've gone deeper into the tools I've always taught others to use for emotional healing and personal transformation.

These things really work.

I've been able to find out what fills my cup and do it, daily, and because of that, I'm ready to show up for you.

Ready to get back on that upward spiral together? I know I am!

Check out a few different ways you can work with me this Fall:

  • Interested in using essential oils for emotional healing? Be sure to follow what we've got going on at the Atlantic Institute of Aromatherapy. We'll be exploring different essential oils this week in our Daily Practice Series on our blog. You can also join in the free online workshop on July 24th. You can find us on IG at @atlanticinstitute but it's best to join the email list at www.atlanticinstitute.com because I'll be sharing somethings there I don't share anywhere else.

  • Enrollment is open for our Course Immersion Programs at the Atlantic Institute starting August 1. If you want to gain confidence in using essential oils at home for your own self-care, I'd highly recommend joining us in the Inner Sanctum Library. You'll also get to participate in our Healing Circle Mentorship available to all students.

  • Fill Your Cup, the weekend workshop, is coming back August 21/22. This workshop is live and has already started to fill up; sign up soon to reserve your spot. If you're craving an immersive experience where you can learn about oils, herbs, meditation, alchemy, and tools for transformation, don't wait to reserve your seat. (Are you an LMT? YES, it is approved for massage CEUs!)

  • Drumroll, please ... I'm VERY CLOSE to seeing massage clients again! Next week, I'll be trialing out a new space to work in. It will be quite a different setup from my other space but I'm stoked about it. Once I've worked in there, I'll send more details and let you know how to get on my schedule. If you definitely want to be on the wait list, just send me a message and you'll be one of the first to get on the schedule.

Know that wherever you're at in your journey is perfect. There were months this past year where I couldn't even conceive of offering aromatherapy classes or massage appointments again.

It turns out that when the conditions are right we CAN thrive. Even at time when it seems impossible.

Happy to be in this growth phase of the upward spiral again. Can't wait to see what comes out of it for all of us.
