Getting Ahead of the Curve

"I think I need to come back in two weeks."

My client looked up at me from the table after I had released one of the muscles in their neck causing their headaches.

They has come in with stress all over their upper body contributing to pain and discomfort. I knew a head, neck, and shoulder session was in order and hoped that our 60 minutes together would make lasting change for them.

But when I heard their realization that returning soon was a must, I wanted to throw a party.

I never want clients to feel that they have to come back because i gave them a sales pitch, so I love it when they decide on their own that they want to give this to themselves.

Most often, muscular-skeletal pain doesn't happen over night. I know that sometimes it feels like ti does because we just wake up and our neck or knee or hips hurt. But it’s almost always something that has been in the works for a while.

Therapeutic massage can help a lot but it can take several sessions. It thrills me when clients realization this on their own because it shows that they can tell it's helping and that there's more work to do. It means they are committed to making lasting change for themselves.

When we went to book their next session, I was already booked two weeks out. But I had openings the following week and three weeks out. When given the choice, the client elected to come back the next week instead of waiting.

If I had an air horn, I would have blown it in celebration.

"This is what I call 'getting ahead of the curve.' We're about to make so many great changes for you."

Sometimes you've got to double down on what's working so you can change what isn't faster.
