Rest is Best
/As a type A, over achiever, Mars in Capricorn kind-of-person, I need this reminder perhaps more than anyone else.
I'm the type of person who likes to get up before the sun and get started on my projects for the day. I also like to stay up and tidy and get things ready for the next day. That's great for a day or two but it's not sustainable. That's a lesson I've been learning.
This week, I've been letting myself sleep in. Not get up to go to the early yoga class. Start my writing a little before 10 am. Skip my daily exercise practice.
Most people have to work hard to do the things. I have to work hard not to do all the things. (Similar to what I wrote about here).
So lately, I've been listening to my body and letting myself rest. It feels weird at first, but then it feels soooooo good.
I'm reminded of the work of Tricia Hersey of @thenapministry who's been teaching us all for years that Rest is Resistance. Follow her. Order her book. Take a freaking nap.
I'd write more, but I'm gonna go lay down now.
