Before the Shedding

There's a time before shedding a part of ourself or letting something go that we know it's going to happen and yet that time has yet to come. We are already letting go of what we once knew, took as solid truth, had feelings that it might last "forever." And yet, the next phase has yet to come to be.

It's like a snake who's just about to shed it's skin. The outer layer is starting to flake but still attached to it's body. There's discomfort and at the same time, a sense that freedom is imminent.
