What's your Number 2 (and 3 and 4 ...)
/Yesterday I wrote about the importance of knowing your #1 practice. The one that is non-negotiable in your life, so that when things gets more complicated you know to focus on that and forget the rest.
But it's also good to know the next few in your priorities. That's what I like to call your "Core 4." If you've worked with me for years, it's likely we've talked about it.
I don't recommend starting with a Core 4, not until your know your Number 1, but over time, it's helpful to identify the few core practices that help you stay on top of your game and moving along your upward spiral.
What this does it it help you know what to focus on when your Number 1 feels effortless and you're ready to focus your habit-forming attention on something else.
For me, though my writing is Number 1, movement is my number 2. The details of my movement practice have changed overtime but there's always some movement quota I'm striving for at any given time.
Right now, in a time of restricting of my life, my Number 3 and 4 are in flux but in the past they've been things like meditation, walking (which I count as different than moving), water/herbal tea, and music practice.
It's easy to get overwhelmed with too many practices to create and sustain at one time, that's why I'm all about focusing on one at a time.
If you know your Number 1, do you know your Number 2 (or 3 or 4)?
