Lighten Up for Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice is known as the longest day of the year. It's when the daylight is the longest in the Northern hemisphere.

It officially marks the beginning of summer, but I like to think of it symbolically. For me, Summer Solstice is when things come into the light. The sun shines brightly on all that has come to fruition this year, particularly the seeds we planted in the winter. If you set any intentions for the new year, this is a great time for a check-in and a reassessment.

What has come to fruition? What has fully blossomed? What hasn't grown like you thought and could be gently removed to make room for what is growing to grow more?

I also like to consider what I'd like to see through to completion before the end of the year. Sometimes things have grown in wonderful ways but could use more focused energy to finish up or move into a new season of growth into next year.

What needs attention to come to completion for you this year? What would you like to focus on for the next 3-6 months?

As I'm asking myself these questions this year, I'm called to lighten up in ways that aren't always natural for me. Since my grief-induced sabbatical in 2020 and half of 2021, I've started to fall into my old habits of hustle that if I'm honest, don't serve me like they once did. The past few years have taught me much about the power of slowing down, deep reflection, and not believing the hype that progress is walls linear.

So I'm challenging myself to lighten my load when it comes to working towards my intentions the next few weeks. What if I spent the next 6 weeks by only focusing on a few key things instead of my usual "way too many"?

What would your to-do list look like if you cut it back to the bare essentials for just a little bit? What if you created a schedule that allowed you to enjoy Summer?

I'm curious to see what that does for me too. : )
