Love fades, but ...

At the park where I walk, there's a stream where the rain water flows from the higher ground to the lake. There's also a small bridge that crosses it so that hikers like me can maneuver over the stream that occurs after a storm.

When I first started walking at the park a year ago, this bridge was being built. Shortly after installing it, someone spray painted "Love" on the side.

This bridge became the point at which I would aim to make it to when I only had time for a two-mile walk and I looked forward to seeing the message of love each time. It would remind me to tune into the love all around which could be delightful or challenging depending on the day.

The heat of summer kept me from walking into the swampy, mosquito-filled woods as often, but the turn of weather has brought me back to walks in the woods.

When I saw the graffiti recently, I noted how faded the message was.

Then I realized another truth reflected in this writing.

Even though some love fades, it can show you the love that lasts.
