It's not morbid ... it's real life.
/"That's what it's called ... dead body pose."
The yoga teacher explained when a student laughed after she instructed us all to "be a dead body." I don't know if he was laughing at the cue or that it related to something she had said earlier.
This was in a hot yoga class of 26 postures. Though I've gotten used to and honestly enjoy these classes, it takes a lot to get through them.
Half-way through the class, the teacher sensed some of us struggling and said, "It's okay, you're not going to die."
But then corrected herself by adding, "...today, you're not going to die today."
Then corrected herself again, "...well, you might die today, I don't know your life. At least you're not going to die today from this."
Many of us broke our separate leg, standing head to knee pose to laugh that the realness she was bringing.
There’s a sense of freedom that happens when we surrender to the inevitability of discomfort and ultimately death. Ironically it can be the key to actually getting to fully experience life.
